Onomea Tea Song
by Jim Nunally, Nell Robinson, Rob Nunally, and Mike Longo

Over the bay of Onomea
Emerald green in graceful rows
Endless skies by pacific seas
The Onomea tealeaf grows

Passing whales with white froth greet
The ancient Ohi’a Lehua
Once the home of sugarcane
In the presence ‘aumakua

Trade-winds lifted our souls today
Drawing us in from so far away
To walk with friends this heaven on earth
Bringing us home to Onomea

Morning sun and camellia blooms
Tender peckos opening
A downy bud plucked plus two
/Plus three for oolong tea

Placed with love in woven bamboo
Perhaps softly wilt in tropic sun
Or withering in cool and shaded air
Spread by hands old and young

Floral aromas rise so fair
The earthy palate of tealeaves
This is our gift, Malama ‘Aina
Black and green and koko ki

So the blessings of love and land
In natures perfect harmony
Like the flowers of Naupaka
Bring us peace and Onomea tea
